WESTON FL ¡X Remote View
Communications today announced the first successful
test of live ground based remote viewing of in-flight
video from an aircraft. Remote View Communications,
Inc. in conjunction with it¡¦s partners
IVMS, HBE, and Iridium Satellite Systems, today
successfully demonstrated live video transmission
of cabin and cockpit cameras on one of the corporate
aircraft of Attorney Willie Gary.
Using it¡¦s IVMS
MultiVision NetServer hardware, specially modified
for aircraft installation by HBE, live video was
sent to a ground based Internet gateway utilizing
the Iridium Satellite Network. Using special compression
and transmission programs Remote View was able
to successfully send video via the currently extremely
limited bandwidth of satellite systems while being
securely viewed via the internet on the ground.
Our system is also capable of sending audio and
data from the flight recorder as well. Thanks
to the cooperation of Mr. Willie Gary and his
aviation personnel the test was done utilizing
one of his Stuart, Florida based corporate aircraft
as a test bed. From his aircraft we were able
to send live images of the cockpit and cabin placed
cameras for viewing and recording by ground based
Iridium personnel. Copies of this live transmission
are recorded and available on our Flight View
Central site. As a result of our successful demonstration
we anticipate making a permanent installation
of the system on Mr. Gary¡¦s Boeing
737, utilizing all aircraft and FAA compliant
equipment already being tested. Our aircraft based
system will interface well with our general aviation
airport security system currently being deployed.
Our partner ADT will be providing cameras and
additional equipment as well as installation for
this system. This application which like our other
systems not only provides monitoring and recording
of all airport areas but remote viewing via the
internet as well. Our system includes motion sensing
and numerous alarm inputs and outputs.
Remote View Communications
President Thomas J. Lang stated ¡§
We are most pleased at the success of our recent
demonstration which would not have been possible
without the assistance of our partners. We believe
that this demonstrated a practical solution to
the need for better in-flight aircraft safety
and security, which can be currently implemented.
We will be pursuing meetings with both the DOT
and FAA with our partners to further demonstrate
our systems capability and features. Remote View
Communications Chief Technology Officer Jorge
Nunez added ¡§ The system consist of
several digital cameras hidden throughout the
aircraft and cockpit transmitting sound and color
video images to a six inch color display in the
cockpit. Simultaneously the feed from all cameras
is being digitally compressed and recorded on
the aircraft and available for transmission to
a ground based storage medium. While the live
feed can be available to airline operations personnel
by dialing into the aircraft, the pilot can also
send live video, voice and data to ground based
viewers securely when conditions warrant ,as in
an emergency. Authorized ground based personnel
viewing over our Flight View Central site can
identify aircraft, receive alarms, and instantly
select live video from any camera on the aircraft
for viewing and recording..
